Aye gulbadan, Aye gulbadan,
Phoolon ki mehak, Kaanton ki chubhan
Tujhe dekh ke kehta hai mera mann
Kahin aaj kisise mohabbat na ho jaaye...
Oh beautiful, oh beautiful,
Oh aroma of flowers, pricking of thorns,
Seeing you, my heart announces,
"I think today I will fall in love with someone."
Kya haseen mod par aa gayi zindigani
Ke haqeekat na ban jaaye meri kahani
Jab aahen bhare ye thandi pawan
Seene mein sulag uththi hai agan
Tujhe dekh ke kehta hai mera mann
Kahin aaj kisise mohabbat na ho jaaye...
What a beautiful turn life has taken
That my fantasy may become real
While this cool breeze sighs,
A fire smoulders beneath my chest.
Seeing you, my heart announces,
"Perhaps today is the day I will fall in love."
Kya ajeeb rang mein saj rahi hai khudaayi
Ke har cheez maalik ne sundar banaayi
Nadiya ka chamakta hai darpan
Mukhda dekhe sapnon ki dulhan
Tujhe dekh ke kehta hai mera mann
Kahin aaj kisise mohabbat na ho jaaye...
The world is decorated in such unique colors
That everything God has made becomes beautiful
The river glitters like a mirror
The bride of my dreams sees her face in that mirror.
Seeing you, my heart announces,
"Perhaps today is the day I will fall in love."
Main tumhi se yun aakhen milata chala hoon
Ke tumhi ko main tumse churaata chala hoon
Mat poochho mera diwaanapan
Aakash se oonchi dil ki udan
Tujhe dekh ke kehta hai mera mann
Kahin aaj kisise mohabbat na ho jaaye...
I have been trying to meet your eyes
I have been trying to steal you from yourself
Don't question my crazy love
My heart is soaring higher than the sky
Seeing you, my heart announces,
"Perhaps today is the day I will fall in love."
Aye gulbadan, Aye gulbadan,
Phoolon ki mehak, Kaanton ki chubhan
Tujhe dekh ke kehta hai mera mann
Kahin aaj kisise mohabbat na ho jaaye...
Oh beautiful, oh beautiful,
Oh aroma of flowers, pricking of thorns,
Seeing you, my heart announces,
"It seems today I will fall in love with someone."

Mr. & Mrs. 55 – Classic Bollywood Revisited!
Two Harvard students relive the magic and music of old Bollywood cinema!
Mr. and Mrs. 55 are two twenty-something Harvard students who are clearly stuck in the wrong century. When they first met at Harvard, they instantly bonded over a common love and appreciation for all things related to classic Bollywood movies. Many long nights were spent discussing the origins of Urdu vocabulary from obscure film dialogues, the never-ending Lata vs. Asha debate, and the awesomeness of Rajesh Khanna’s hairstyle. Mr. 55 is a classical Western and Indian pianist, a dedicated Hindi-Urdu student, and perhaps most importantly, an ardent fan of Lata Mangeshkar. Mrs. 55 is a Hindustani classical singer and Kuchipudi dancer, a film production major, and above all, a die-hard Mohammed Rafi groupie. Here, Mr. and Mrs. 55 have joined forces to share their Hindi lyric translations of classic Bollywood songs and their musings on the movies, music, and poetry from the Golden Age of Hindi cinema. Enjoy!
